If you are looking for high quality, family run, private accommodation on the island of Koh Tao coupled with excellent service then you have come to the right place. We are delighted to offer you the Koh Tao Star Villa and apartments for rent on this beautiful tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand.
Koh Tao Star Villa has achieved a 5-star ranking on Tripadvisor since 2010 and we intend to keep it this way.
Koh Tao Star Villa is a modern villa nestled in jungle clad hills overlooking Sairee Beach, the longest and most popular beach on Koh Tao. It enjoys a superb location, near the end of a private road, giving you peace & isolation, and very easy access to Sairee Beach where there is a huge variety of bars, restaurants and clubs to suit all tastes. We provide a free taxi service to/from Sairee Town up to 10.30 at night and the use of a mobile phone for your convenience.
There are two spacious one-bedroom apartments on the lower level, a huge two-bedroom Penthouse on the upper level, and, if you are traveling with a larger group, you can rent the whole villa giving you 4 double bedrooms and a total of 400 square meters of living space.
The villa faces west over the gulf of Thailand giving you outstanding, panoramic jungle, sea and sunset views to enjoy from your terrace. Please note that Koh Tao Star Villa enjoys these beautiful views because it is up a hill (some of which is steep). There are also quite a few stairs. As such it is unsuitable for the elderly or infirm or for children under the age of 10.
More details:
Koh Tao Star Villa is perched on the side of the hill, overlooked by a huge granite boulder and there is a temple just behind the villa. Set in an acre of its own grounds, Star Villa provides nearly 400 square meters of uniquely designed living space, blending Thai architecture with western concepts to produce a sophisticated living space in a tropical jungle setting. The upper floor is a huge penthouse apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, open-planned lounge/diner/kitchen with vaulted ceiling and an office/library that can double as a third bedroom. The level below is made up of two self-contained one bedroom apartments with en-suite bathrooms and spacious open-plan living rooms with kitchenette. Below these is our games room with pool table, darts board and assorted board games and entertainments.
Koh Tao Star Villa is located almost at the center of the island and provides fantastic, panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and hills together with westerly views of the Gulf of Siam and the sun setting over the hills on the mainland some 70km away.
This means that Koh Tao Star Villa is off the beaten track – about a 15 minute walk from Sairee town and Sairee beach. The result is a very peaceful location away from the bustle and hubhub of Sairee and yet within easy access of the life and lights of the town/beach. By scooter this trip takes less than 5 minutes and we do provide a free taxi service to the town up to 10.30 at night if you need it.
We would ask that you bear in mind that we are not a typical resort. We offer a private, self-contained, fully serviced villa/apartments. We provide excellent personal service and will always do our best to ensure that your stay is everything you expect. We are off the beaten track – this guarantees our guests privacy and a very peaceful place to stay – but since we are a 15 minute walk from the beach, you may wish to consider renting a motorcycle or scooter if you are experienced in riding them.
This is a joke right? Coconuts? Are you serious? I thought that this was an) urban myth – or rather a tropical island myth.
Nope. No joke – this is serious stuff. Sharks might not be waiting just off the beach to bite your leg off, but that coconut tree you are lying under for a bit of shade, may just bite you in the ass in its own particular way.
A new ‘stem’ of coconuts starts with hundreds of tiny coconuts on it, but as they grow the vast majority of these fall off and no one notices. Once they get to the size of a fist, there may be just 30 or 40 of these fledgling coconuts left on the stem. And the process continues – as they continue to grow there is not enough room on the stem of all of them, so they squeeze their fellow coconuts off and they (of course) fall to the ground. These are not killer coconuts but they will still give you a nice bruise if one of these things falling from 40 feet up hit you. But, this process continues and once the coconuts get to ‘head’ size they weigh a couple of kilograms and you really don’t want one of these bad boys hitting you.
